The Rail Road Association of South Africa (RRA) joins Rail Working Group

22nd July 2016

The Rail Road Association of South Africa (RRA) is the representative body for the Rail sector in South Africa. RRA was officially established in 2000 with over 100 major companies and organizations are now members. Support for the creation of RRA came from the Committee for Railway Engineering (CRE) in 1998. At the time CRE represented a group of professional road and railway engineers, including academics that had become increasingly concern that South Africa’s transport resources were not being utilized in the most effective manner.
The mandate of the RRA has grown over the years to include:

1. Rail Revitalization in South Africa;:

2. Act as a Technical Centre of Excellence to the Rail Industry in South Africa; and:

3. Represent the Rail Industry in the global environment as an Export Council;

Given the resurgence of interest in rail in Africa and the ability of RRA members to service this growing need RRA has developed an Africa Resource to enable RRA members across the continent to gain better access to project opportunities.
